Thanks for the broken link heads up! I&#039;ve fixed it now. I too found out recently that newer 1.94xx broke the file length rule, again :( It does look increasingly like gnu tar is the only solution.</description>

I found your post because I was having trouble installing Bundle::CPAN via CPAN.pm.  Even now, it was trying to grab a 1.94xx which still had too long of pathnames.  I manually downloaded 1.9452 from cpan.org, installed it, and then was able to properly use CPAN.pm.  So I&#039;m good now.</description>
