Hi Matt,

Thanks for the comment. I’m just looking at local::lib, after discussing this article with a few folks on #catalyst. I’ve had some problems with getting it to bootstrap as an ordinary user though. The author is currently looking into that for me.

I must confess, it’s been a while since I just tried ‘cpan Catalyst’ – does it really run smoothly on Solaris? I must try it!

You could also try using http://search.cpan.org/~apeiron/local-lib-1.003001/lib/local/lib.pm local::lib. Installing catalyst (And jifty, DBIx::Class, etc…) has become as simple as it was supposed to be: `cpan Catalyst`
