VMware Perl SDK on CentOS 6

The VMware Perl SDK is only supported on RHEL 5.* and its derivatives, which is getting a bit old hat now. Previously, getting the perl UUID module to compile on RHEL 6 was problematic. VMware Perl SDK error "Server version unavailable.."

Whilst working with the VMware Perl SDK this morning I came across this error:

Server version unavailable at '<a href="https://hostname/sdk/vimService.wsdl">https://hostname:443/sdk/vimService.wsdl</a>' at /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8/VMware/VICommon.pm line 545.
